About The Author
Greg Houser
Greg Houser has focused on writing, investing, and active philanthropy since selling his investment management firm in 2015, after a forty-five year career. He, and his wife of fifty-four years, live in Portland, Oregon, where they raised four children. Greg graduated from the University of Oregon, earned an MBA at UCLA and later was accredited as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). As a septuagenarian, he is vulnerable to senior scams, woke attacks, never-ending viral intrusions, telling cringe-worthy grandpa jokes and falling down stairs. Despite the world’s ills, he remains preternaturally hopeful.

One Scribe’s Methodology
For me, writing is a combination of strategy and spontaneity. The strategy is to first, engage my audience and then, to educate, enlighten and entertain them. To be credible, it needs to be obvious to readers, that I have a passion for and knowledge of the subject matter.
Effective “conveyance” of these topics requires various tactics or, literary devices, which for me include: humor, pop culture references, vivid imagery, strong word choices, and alliteration.
On the other hand, spontaneity is the spark of inspiration. While a mercurial muse, it brings those cherished epiphanies of clarity and insight that breathe special life into one’s writing. Good writing has to be communication of a higher order. It must transport the reader to a world of larger dimension and enrich their place in it.

“Nuns Who Drive Porsche” proved a perfect read for my late night enjoyment. Many financial and societal insights with lots of laughs as well. Not every author has the ability to combine a Buffalo Springfield lyric with the Fed Rate and make it interesting insightful and funny. A great read.
“Always fascinating to read what sprouts from Greg’s fertile mind!”
“You are a gifted thinker and writer...I think you have a God-given, special talent for humorous writing.”
“Greg Houser and I have probably voted for the same candidate – let’s see if I can get this right –never. Yet when I read his wide-ranging musings, I often find myself nodding in agreement. Not always, but often. If we are ever to get our shit back together as a country, being open to new or conflicting views is key to bridging the divide. Houser’s essays are a good launching point.”
